Her Way Home is more than a performance—it is a cultural brand that redefines the intersection of music, identity, and design. Created for the New England Conservatory, it celebrates the artistry and resilience of Asian female musicians, blending heritage with contemporary performance.

The project brings together musicians from Asia to Boston, each carrying a unique blend of heritage, contemporary expression, and artistic evolution. More than a performance, Her Way Home becomes a poetic exploration of identity, displacement, and belonging, where nostalgia and aspiration merge into a dynamic artistic dialogue. Through evocative soundscapes and fluid visual storytelling, the performance embodies both a homecoming and a forward-moving journey, reflecting the duality of cultural roots and new frontiers.

As the digital producer and system lead, Lingyi oversaw the end-to-end development of a live performance at Brown Hall by the NEC Performance Ensemble, which integrated immersive projection, real-time interactive installations, and classical music. She led the technical strategy and production workflow, implementing Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithms to translate live musical input into generative visual outputs. These visuals were crafted to evoke the fluid dynamics of traditional East Asian shanshui landscapes.

To ensure a responsive and immersive audience experience, Lingyi directed the integration of Microsoft Kinect as a real-time motion and depth sensor. She coordinated the data flow and system architecture between hardware input and TouchDesigner, where she built a custom pipeline to visualize movement and sound in real time.
